[On Ima's doorstep on Christmas morning is a cake box, wrapped in gold with an elegant red and black bow atop it. Inside is an assortment of baked goods - gingerbread, cupcakes, slices of chocolate and lemon cake, and a small Christmas cake.]

[There is a note tucked under the ribbon, written in close, curving calligraphy.]

Dear Ima,

Merry Christmas, and welcome back. Believe it or not, all of the contents of this box were made with my own two hands - so please be gentle in your judgement of them! I hope they taste all right, and please do also consider this an open invitation to a discount at the Kit-TEA-Kat Café.

I was very glad to see you again, and while I'm sure that this is all a disconcerting experience, I hope that you know you can always come to me for help or support. I owe you a great deal which only came to fruition after you left; I should like to repay it, if I can.
